Introduction for Naming Compounds
Service Description
Chemists communicate not only with words, but also with chemical formulas and equations. For such communication to be effective there must exist a format that is standard the world over. Gaining a measure of mastery over this format is the goal of this lesson. The lesson will address two intimately related yet standalone skills: writing chemical formulas given their accepted names, and naming compounds when presented with chemical formulas. The lesson is designed for all levels of high school Chemistry and College General Chemistry. The main emphasis will be on inorganic nomenclature; basic organic skills will be addressed as well. Advanced organic naming will not be covered.
